Freedom On My Tongue

I tasted Freedom

And it lingers in my mouth.

I flew with the Sun

Like a bird toward the South.

I saw queen\'s royal and musical alike,

I saw king\'s behead wives

Yet though the axe came chopping

I never felt so alive.

I watched fires burn down cities

And soldiers shoot down sons and wives.

I defied a Holocaust

And came out the other side.

I witnessed the most unlikely alliance,

Rode shotgun with Bonnie and Clyde.

And even when I\'ve dwindled

My name has never died.

Hope is what they call me

For I\'ll never do you wrong.

In history\'s darkest moments

Freedom;

Is on my tongue
