Disappointments

I.

Invincible man
speaks through me.
Invincible I.
Celestial man.
Cursing you!
You would live
for a little sun.
For a little wind
blowing into the valley,
for a little sun
warming the heart.
So you had us sold
for pieces of gold
and trod us down;
what do you care
about us in the bottoms of dungeons
dying,
for us, rebelling
without rights.
Sending informers against us. —
Invincible man speaks
through me.
Invincible I.
Celestial man.
Cursing you.
Invincible man speaks
through me.
Invincible I.
Celestial man.
It is a cruel voice.
I am not allowed to love a woman
if I carry death with me,
yet with my every thought
it is you I see,
the Jove of a pure woman
can like autumn sunshine be;
deserted fields,
above silent serenity.
Invincible man speaks
through me.
Invincible I.
Celestial man.
It is a cruel voice.

III.

I am not with you,
I want to be on my own.
I do not cry with tears.
Must complete everything alone
I am not of you.
Always on my mark
to leave when I am told!
I sing and I bark.
Her shadow falls over me,
silent shadows her eyes
Should the World take her,
everything dies.
Shining in black, bare branches,
like by death defeated.
The sun of Nihilomelancholy.
All will be completed.

IV.

As it should be.
Invincible man is fighting inside me.
Don't curse, heard
Don't curse, soul!
We are all sick.
Must die,
must die,
can't bear to suffer,
can't bear to live.
Invincible man speaks
through me.
Invincible I.
Celestial man.
His voice is
like a last warm prayer.
