Tell Me, Is The Rose Naked?

Pablo Neruda

 Next Poem

Tell me, is the rose naked
Or is that her only dress?.

Why do trees conceal
The splendor of their roots?.

Who hears the regrets
Of the thieving automobile?.

Is there anything in the world sadder
Than a train standing in the rain?.

WOW, I REMEMBER READING THIS POEM WAY BACK WHEN I WAS YOUNGER! I REALLY ENJOY HOW IT MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT SIMPLE THINGS IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAY! IT'S AMAZING HOW SOME WORDS CAN JUST CHANGE HOW YOU VIEW THINGS LIKE ROSES AND TREES. BACK THEN I DIDN'T FULLY GET THE MEANING, BUT NOW THAT IM OLDER I CAN APPRICIATE IT! THE LAST LINE IS JUST A MASTERPICE, I LOVE IT. THE WHOLE POEM IS LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. ITS GREAT TO COME ACROS THIS POEM AGAIN AFTER SO MANY YEARS!

Wow, this poem really got me thinking...its like it's making me question everything. The imagery is really beautiful too. I especially love the bit about the train, it's a mood for sure. I think we often forget to appreciate poetry, but it really does open up a different perspective on life.
