Three blind mice

Beatrix Potter

 Next Poem

Three blind mice, three blind mice,
See how they run!
They all run after the farmer's wife,
And she cut off their tails with a carving knife,
Did ever you see such a thing in your life
As three blind mice!

LOVE THESE NURSERY RHYMES, THEY BRING BACK LOADS OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES! IT'S SIMPLISTIC BUT THE IMAGERY IS SO VIVID. THE RHYTHM AND REPETITION MAKE IT FUN FOR KIDS, ALTHOUGH THE END IS A BIT GRUESOME. A REMINDER THAT SOME STORIES FROM OUR YOUTH WERE NOT ALL RAINBOWS AND UNICORNS. STILL, AN ICONIC PIECE THAT HAS WITHSTOOD THE TEST OF TIME!

Just re-read this classic nursery rhyme and goodness, it's a lot more violent than I remember from my kiddo days! Always loved the catchy tune tho. But man, that farmer's wife was harsh. Not really what I'd call bedtime story material, but nonetheless it's still a piece of our childhood nostalgia.

"Three Blind Mice" surely gets darker than I recall but it's still a classic!
