I stood upon a high place

I stood upon a high place,
And saw, below, many devils
Running, leaping,
and carousing in sin.
One looked up, grinning,
And said, "Comrade! Brother!"

JUST READ THIS POEM FOR ENGLISH HOMEWORK AND IT REALLY MESSED WITH MY HEAD. KINDA SCARY TO IMAGINE SEEING "MANY DEVILS RUNNING, LEAPING, AND CAROUSING IN SIN." REALLY LEFT ME THINKING ABOUT THE DARKER ASPECTS OF MANKIND. STILL, IT WAS DEEP AND INTENSE STUFF. A BIT CREEPED OUT NOW, LOL.
