Joshua s fate

Away we go into the night,
our own fate so often fight.
A stranger summons from the heart,
from the mirror we must depart.

Extend both arms to the unknown,
destination will not be shown.
Cause it's faith that unravel's this gift,
from perplexity provides a lift.

Blinded eyes began to see,
all the options for one to be.
Inspired visions that must be dreams,
full realization of identity.

We wake at dawn to our reflection,
new found interest that require inspection.
We embrace the day with hope and joy,
a woman a girl and a man a boy.

Our optimism the knowledge of us,
in our own voice we begin to trust.
Then break away from who we'd been,
now in the mirror we're genuine.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem about the courage to face the truth about ourselves. The honesty to admit we are not happy with ourselves nor the direction our lives are going in. And the commitment we must make to ourselves in order to strip off everything we once were in order to discover everything we can still be.

Joshua, I think it is funny how things happen; just this morning I post a poem on this same subject; then I came and read your poem and comment on it. Wonderful writing and I hope to read more of your works.
