Colours Flirting in the Wind

Leonard Dabydeen

Colours flirting in the wind

Towels, aprons and things

Hanging on strings

Tied to red-painted t-poles

Where lawn is green

And shrubs dazzle in sunlight glaze

I watch an implanted totem

Smiling with eyes closed

Never to see light of day

As wind makes music

While sunshine has its way

Spring comes with bright sunshine. And neighbors hang assorted colored clothes on lines in the backyard. In this particular backyard there is a totem pole near to the fence.
