A Twist of Thread

clareb

You came to me out of nowhere
An unexpected twist of fate
I had given up on love
I wasn't looking for a mate

I once read a Chinese proverb
About those destined to meet
Joined by a tangled silken thread
Until their love is meant to be

That was us so close to meeting
And yet never quite in time
Ever but a heartbeat away
From you always being mine

The thread has now unravelled
Proving that proverb true
If I lived a thousand lifetimes
In each one I would find you
