Ode to "The Red Wheelbarrow"

Allison Cuellar

My favorite poet is William Carlos Williams.

Summer is simple; the lemonade is cool, chess

Games are long. I live to be an

Ant of a woman. Eternally small

In the eye of burning stars.

For in my red wheelbarrow, I compact

Piled dirt down. To feel the wet

Ground grind in my fingers.
