Here on the Hill

Mike carter

I am alone now here on the hill
Letting my mind with memories fill
The sky it is blue and clouds drift on by
There’s a tear on my cheek but I don’t know why

Do you remember as autumn winds blew
I said I loved you, you loved me too
Then the rain it did fall to dance at our feet
We watched as the shadows waltzed down the street

I kissed you quite gently do you recall
and the rain was still falling we felt nothing at all
just lost in the moment as time it stood still
like two lonely shadows we stood on the hill

the tree is much older but I still can recall
the sound of you laughing and the thrill of it all
we promised forever but how could we know
that an angel was calling and you had to go

I am alone now my eyes they will fill
with tears of remeberence Here on the hill

It's sad the fact so much love suddenly goes away...
    Beautiful piece of poetry.
