Inseperable Matrimony.

The Poet

What comes to mind when I say the word “matrimony?”

Do you picture a church of holy?

Two people bonded by love.

A true gift from above.

Or do you see a bond?

Something that goes far beyond.

I see not only a vow.

But, acceptance of differences and still loving anyhow.

Two examples, young and old, of that I’ve seen.

Seem like happily ever after and so serene.

One is from my grandparents, they claim the old.

And don’t be surprised, this is no fool’s gold.

The other, they are not married.

Though they don’t seem just a temporary.

They treat each other with love and respect.

Even though one is moving away, neither is upset.

They truly love each other and wish to make it work.

Each has their own quirk.
The most ironic part was, they are high school sweethearts.

They shared a love of the fine arts.

My grandparents met each other young as well.

And they’ve been together through bombshell after bombshell.

So for all of you that say that love at first sight isn’t real.

Or that love in high school isn’t the real deal.

I’ve met people who have broken those standards.

And done most everything backwards.

So matrimony to me is a bond that everyone can see.

And I hope I find that for me.
