Scars Upon My Body

Frances.Zacharias97

A scar
Dances along my body
From breast to spine
A scar of life

A scar
A smear of ink
Black birds in the flight of freedom
A word…
A word of bold Strength

A disfigured face
Upon my lip
Lies a scar
One that made
Something broken whole again

A scar of fun
Placed with the lightest of touches
On my skin
It is one
That was won in an accident

A scar of adventure
Of trying new things
A bike ride
With a scar attached

My body
It hold many things
Many different scars

One that saved my life
One to keep me strong and free
And…
One that hold my façade in place

The others
Gotten during times
Of love
Fun
Adventures

A body
My body
A scar
My scars

Each says something
Whether
It is a story
Of pain and loss
Of happiness and love
They mark us forever
We…
I will carry them
On my body
With pride and power
And never with shame or distaste
