Fish contains protein and omega three
Batter with Guinness is so good for me !
Hot mushy peas are the food of the Gods
We eat them and treat them against all the odds
Fish & Chips is the dish of our Northern Pride
With Acetic Acid and Sodium Chloride !
Wrapt up in newspaper to eat in the street
Cuisine nutritious ~ auspicious & sweet
Worldwide theres no fine banquet than these
Battered Fish ~ Fried Potatoes & Hot Mushy Peas !

Mama's Cooking
Mama's Italian cooking I knew
Family Sicilian from Cefalu.
Food traced its origins to ancient Greece
Start the meal with Insalata Capreese
Or– camponata appetizer.
Minestrone sopa I watched her stir.
Lasagna, wild rabbit cacciatore
Washed down with wine, her Perricone.
Now for Tiramisu desert I go
Served best with coffee, a cappuccino.
Although the above was great I admit.
Spaghetti and meatballs my favorite.
Mama is gone now, her meals memories
But in my cupboard sits her recipes.

MY FOOD was bland ~ it taste like sand
No smell no taste to savor
Then GOD created PASTA
Al dente ~ so divine the flavor !
Spaghetti ~ Lasagne ~ Farfalle
Spirelli ~ Fusilli ~ Tranalle
Ravioli ~ Vermacelli ~ Funghini
Torchino ~ Alphabeti ~ Tortaliini
All Served with Mamas Pasa Saucee ~ OF COURSE !

My favorite is chocolate but if you must know
It's something I eat when I'm downright blue.
It can be in any form but what I really like
Is sitting down and eating it with you!
If I don't get my chocolate I get quite lonely.
I get downright sad, it's true.

I was born in the North of England so Fish & Chips & Mushy peas (in a newspaper) were our staple diet. They were even served at Weddings !
