If only...

thollin

Perhaps most bitter of all

is he who was left behind

while happiness carried on.

Forsaken and Forlorn

his face bears not but scorn.

Secretly he mourns his plight

he cries deeply every night

unable to forget

his mind submersed in regret.

" If only..." whispers constantly

but never sets the man free.

Silently rises sun again

void of hope in its beams

only lights the man

who sounds the silent screams.

This is well crafted and speaks volumes. I have had a number of "if only" over the years and have tears over one in particular. Great job!
