Silver Lining

SabreLi

I haven't slept for days on end

I'm starting to forget how it feels

Each night I lie down and pretend

And pay a visit to the farmer's fields

Then somewhere between sleep and reality

A soft voice speaks from an earlier day

I remember the times before tragedy

Struck all my hopes and dreams away…

Awake to the crash of thunder

And lightning within these walls

Residents screaming blue murder

That telltale gold ray beneath the door

I pick up my diary, pen in the date

Go through the motions, ‘til early hits late

Draw a line underneath, end of a day

The story in June's the same as in May

I haven't eaten for weeks now

I'm starting to forget how to feel

I think now I'll lay myself down

And take my place at the final meal

In that place between here and the Netherland

The same noise haunts those familiar shores

I forget times gone by as you take my hand

And lead me through the open doors…

Thrown into storm and disorder

Electric within these walls

Residents screaming blue murder

That silver lining beneath the door

Pick up the same diary, start a new day

Remember emotions long since put away

A new line beneath, the end of an age

The story's complete, turn over the page
