Winter is here to stay

The icy blast stings my cheeks

Snowflakes whipping at me, its been weeks

But this time winter is here to stay

I want it warm but I'm not getting my way

 

All signs of autumn are gone

In my backyard I see a doe and her fawn

All the animals in search of food

The trees about to be stripped nude

 

Now snowflakes the size of nickles fall

Adding up accumulations inches tall

The wind has died down for today

And the children run outside to play

    First substantial snowfall here. People forget how to drive. Took twice as long to get to work! Welcome winter. Very warm and cheerful poem in spite of the cold.

        Although I'm not a fan of the cold or snow it is a great whimsical winter write, love the rhyming and the fun way it ends, great stuff start to finish!
