the lady in the white dress

willyweed

at the stroke of midnight

you can find her there

the lady in the white dress

with flowers in her hair

it seems her heart is broken

laying shattered on the floor

for her true love was taken

outside the chapel door

she waits outside the chapel

as she does most every night

the lady in the white dress

ended her own life

her flowers are all wilted

her dress is stained with blood

she's waiting through eternity

for her one true love

Very good but sad poem. Reminds me of the Charles Dickens story, and the "Great Expectations," character Miss Havisham, having been made a fool of, and being left at the alter, and never removing her wedding gown...:)

THANKS WILLY ~ For a beautiful but sad Fantasy story ~ but it does happen in real life ! Friends of mine have been jilted at the Altar or their partner has died just prior to the wedding or just after. I am pleased to report that in all the four cases that come to mind the one left behind recovered and went on to marry another and is still happily married. However the experience in each case left an indelible mark. Thanks for sharing BRIAN
