Oh, Dearest Self

poetlife

Oh, dearest self
A heart once filled with gold
And a smile not hurt by a soul.
A light no longer needed in the night
For you, dearest self, was the only light
in the night when the sky was a picturesque blue.

Oh, dearest self,
What happened to you?
Your heart is black and sensitive to the words
Now etched into your depressive soul. Who
Broke you so much you decided to
Darken  room which had no lights on at night?

Oh, dearest self
Pick yourself up and love again
Your smile was so beautiful back when
You told people you loved them even
When their soul was broken.
What happened to you?

That's it, dearest self!
Your heart is gleaming with joy
You smile a thousand smiles!
You are the light in their lives
And the reason for hearts to keep beating.
You're alive, dearest self, you're alive!

To me, dearest self
I have a filled with gold
And a smile that has been hurt by a soul.
I am now the light in the room with
People full of night. For I, dearest self
Have made an unforgettable version of happiness.
