The Beast

Silent Nights

Don't come near me.

While I may appear as pretty as a rose petal,

My thorns will pierce your skin and let the blood drip down your wrist.

Don't come near me.

I am locked away to keep you safe,

Under lock and key of hatred and heart break,

Let loose by love and I will leave you emptier than before.

Don't come near me.

No matter how much I beg and scratch at the walls that hold me prisoner,

Don't listen.

I am a monster.

I absorb any and all hope of joy and life.

So please, don't come near me.

Because if you do, then you will want to stay and you may feel the need to set me free.

But this rose was encased in glass to remind the beast who he truly was.
