seperation

Anna Becker

The separation was like olive oil. you were the water I was the oil
Some place where the catalyst used to be
replaced by a divide

I remember the times in which a simple text would mean so much
I;ve deleted all our conversations

some are just too hard to remember

I look back at the memories of me and you
us
nothing more than best friends, but best friends dont love like we did
or how I did, anyways

There are times when I pull out my phone
desiring for my news to reach your ears
but it always ends back in my pocket
we dont talk like we used to

endless texts turn to endless silence
endless laughter turn to nostalgic wishing
endless appreciation turn to unsatisfactory regret

I shouldnt blame myself for th things that you said
the actions that you took
the ways that you cut

but part of me does

Because i cant comprehend how something so close can grow so far away with the smallest of time
you were the world to me
now im in the world without you.
