"It's Only Right"

dopeitscliff

I remember you saying that you appreciate honesty in a guy more than anything.
So as a man, I'm going to be completely honest with you.

You truly are an amazing girl.
I knew that there was something true,
Like a signal from God right out of the blue,
That smacked me right in the face on the day when I met you

I don't know what it was.
Was it that smile? Those white jewels stuck in your mouth,
That shines so hard that it makes the sun travel south?

Was it those dimples? Was it the smoothness of your face without a trace of pimples?
Was it that beautiful voice or your walk? Can't this all be so simple?

Ahhh see, it was those eyes,
Those eyes are what drew me close from afar,
Those precious peepers were as appealing to me as marbles in a glass jar

They told me a lot about you without them saying one word,
When I looked through them all I could see was a window
Finally, the answer was very clear, I didn't have to look through the blinds,
To notice that you were a special individual, a one of a kind

Once I began talking to you more and more,
My fascination began racing faster and faster,
Wanting to know you was like reading a book, I was dying to know what happens in the next chapter

In a matter of four days, I got the results of your test.
Looks? Check. Brains? Check. Style? Check. And personality? That got a triple check because you know that the last is always the best

Every conversation with you was a delicious treat,
My sweet tooth's kicking in, now nothing but cavities in my teeth

You can say that I sensed that me and you have a chemistry
Every word exchanged had more substance than a beaker
They ranged from super goofy all the way to even deeper

Can you believe that I'm not even done yet?
Sadly this is the part of the poem that I regret

Like I said earlier, I'm going to be honest with you,
Honestly, I do like you a lot,
Honestly, when I'm around you I know that everything is finer than wine,
But honestly, I'm sad to say that I can't make you all mine

You see, school has been the biggest thing to finish on my bucket list,
Last semester was kinda rough, my GPA took a little trip,
Down south along with some of my priorities,
You would be the world to me but I would need like four of me

I also know you graduate in less than four months,
Best believe I wish more than the best for you
I'm happy that you made it, only after three years,
Along with spiders, long distance is another great fear

You're too good to be #2, I don't wanna put you through that,
It would be a gamble to add you to my super stuffed plate
Like momma said I gotta eat all my vegetables first,
Before I could even think about having dessert

Trust me when I say writing this kinda hurt,
Palms sweaty, wrist hurting typing out all my thoughts,
It's only right that tell you now before it's too late,
Before I become the next type of dude that you hate

Once again, I gotta be honest with you,
To be honest, I still wanna get to know you more but do it as friends,
To be honest, I don't want all the good times we had to just end

You're still one of the dopest females that I've met at this school,
I'd probably lose my mind if ended up losing someone like you
I would treat you like my sister, and I could be your brother,
I'll always think you're special, there's no need to ask or wonder

I'm sorry if I upset you, I hope that you understand,
That right now is not the best time for a girl in my plans,
So this is me spilling out my guts as I stand tall in my vans,
Like you said, you appreciate honesty in a man
