Lighting the Torch

notapoet

Words whispered in the night

With passionate intent

On breathe hot with desire

Into an ear they were sent

Words echoed deep in a heart

Where shadows did hide

In that timid black darkness

Did loves unlit torch reside

The words sent on that breath

Were hopeful yet alone

But filled with such emotion

It chilled to the bone

The heart heard the soft sounds

Like the beat it once knew

The words gaining in strength

Igniting into a flame as they flew

Emotional sparks

Filling dark corners and rifts

Giving hope and a promise

To wherever it drifts

Casting its radiance

Until all was again one

And igniting loves torch

To burn like the sun
