LET US ALL PRAISE GOD ~ A Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

Let us never forget ~ that Planet Earth

And everything in it belongs to GOD !

But not everyone sees GOD as creator.

Those who truly love and acknowledge GOD

Discover the true purpose of living

So let us look up to our GOD and LIVE

GOD's glory is evident all around us

In the birds & bees ~ the flowers & trees

So let us celebrate today ~ GOD's goodness

GOD has abundantly provided for all !

The water in our Streams ~ the oxygen

In our Atmosphere ~ The soil in our Fields.

There is no other Planet like our Earth

That's why GOD put us here ~ not MARS or VENUS !

Thanks for reading ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN

This is a Blank Verse Sonnet  in 6 - 6 - 2 verse form

  • Comment from author about the poem: I look around me and the evidence of Gods awesome creative power is right here ! I look through a Telescope and I am reminded just how infinite and powerful God is. I look though my Microscope ~ at a minute insect ~ and see how unique and detailed Gods creation really is. But amazingly I was able to talk with Him in Prayer this morning ~ to meditate on His Word (The BIBLE) and later to Worship Him in song ~ with many others ~ in my Church ~ Thanks GOD for SUNDAY ~ Amen ~ Gods love to ALL ~ BRIAN

Good faith filled write Brian, it's a pity Homo Sapiens think they know better.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FRIEND ~ YES indeed ~ God created us in His image so we could know Him and communicate through Prayer, 21st C Man with all his technology does now think he knows better than God. The BIBLE says that the Man who says "There is (probably) no GOD" is a FOOL. Thanks BRIAN

Great write. Humans would burn up on Mars or Venus, wouldn't they?!

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES Friend ~ I always think one of the great evidences for an Intelligent Creator is just how suitable Planet Earth is to be a habitable Planet compared with Venus (much to hot) and Mars (too cold). We also have a fabulous MOON ~ Venus has none and Mars two lumps of rock ~ no bigger than the Isle of Wight. We also have an abundance of liquid water ~ an ideal Atmosphere and fertile soil etc etc. If we destroy Planet earth ~ there is nowhere else to go ~ Thanks BRIAN

Thanks Brian - I've done a poem on Psalm 8 too, in a short series I'm currently compiling - not posted them yet. A pity that some people think one tune to 'All things bright and beautiful' seems to 'murder the hymn'!

        • Elbeanzio

Love the flow of the poem. Very enjoyable read.

Playing devils advocate (no pun intended), there's no question in my mind that there is an intelligent order to the universe. But for any chance of world peace, we would have have to acknowledge that maybe there's not just one story to the whole case of religion. If the bible (New Testament) was used as spiritual guide for all people, and was followed, the world would unquestionably be a better place. The Old Testament on the other hand, I pray (keeping with the theme) that the god in that book doesn't exist, as he is nothing short of a very malicious psychopath. (To anyone posting, please do not blindly criticise if you haven't read it)
I know I'm going to put a lot of noses out of joint with my opinion, but accepting people's opinion as just their own without having to condem it, is surely a behaviour a child of god would practice. Anyway, allowing our imagination to wander is a gift from god, and it's rude to not accept a gift. Thinking outside the confines of religion would surely allow us to make an informed choice on believing. Keep up the good work ✌️️

I am totally un decided on whether I believe in any religion I think your poem is very well written and I like it a lot I don't think my not believing in a religion makes me a bad person I am an extremely loving and devoted father but my head is very messed up maybe if there is a supreme being this is my punishment for not believing I really hope I haven't offended any one on this site by my views as I really mean no malice towards any religion or person peace to all

To each His own LP. God loves the Unbelievers just as much as He loves those of us who have a strong Faith. I post Spiritual Poems to Praise my Creator God ~ they are for ALL to enjoy and not to castigate or condemn anyone for NOT believing ~ OK. Thanks for your comment ~ much appreciated. One expression of God's Love is his giving you an opportunity to be a Loving & Devoted DAD ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)

I would enquire as to what exact style of sonnet you speak of. I know it's not a petrarchan sonnet, also known as the Italian sonnet, with a rhyme scheme A, B, B, A, A, B, B, A, followed by a sestet of 6 lines featuring their own special rhyme scheme.
