Deliverance From Destruction

orchidee

Fits tune: Caswall - Wem in Leidenstagen

('Glory be to Jesus')

Based on part of Psalm 79 - A Lament

********

O God, we lament here

For heathen, no fear

Of you, but they plunder

Us, cut asunder

Theme of mourning, sadness

Come, restore us, bless

For enemies reviled

Your temple defiled

Here dead bodies scattered

No mercy conferred

Left unburied, birds, beasts

On them they do feast

Bloodshed, carnage, horror

We a reproach, slur

To ur enemies strong

Help us Lord, we long

Pour out wrath unfailing

Our complaint we bring

Save us from enemies

Deliver, set free

God of our salvation

Help us here, each one

Forgive, take sins away

Restore light and day

So we still your people

Shall unto you call

In your pasture us keep

We by grace your sheep

Thanks G. These seem some terrible words for a hymn - not joyful. It's a lament though. The tune to the original hymn seemed suitable.
