SATURN IS MY RAINBOW GIRL ~ RINGS ROUND HER SWIRL !
JUPITER ~ the GOD
ruler of all the planets
with his golden rod !
SATURN ~ full of bling
she's quite a girl ~ round her swirl
ring on shining ring !
URANUS waves her
wand and sprinkles her star dust
wherever she must !
NEPTUNE ~ strange to me
he has no liquid water
but ~ GOD of the SEA ?
PLUTO ~ demoted
'cos nobody voted for
planet status quo
so he had to go !

- Comment from author about the poem: I have always been fascinated by the Planets in our SOLAR SYSTEM ~ each is one is awesome and we all have a special affinity with a specific PLANET because of our Star sign ! I'm VIRGO (which is why I'm a perfectionist !) so my Planet is MERCURY ! Mercury only takes 88 days to circle the Sun and the metal Mercury (quicksilver) is the only metallic element which is a liquid at ambient temperature 15C ( 50F). People born under the Mercury planetary sign (VIRGOS) tend to be verbose ~ good wordsmiths and good poets ! Planet Earth is the only LIVING PLANET in the Solar System and so far the only one we have discovered in the MILKY WAY. This is why we should conserve and preserve the Earth's unique and delicate ecosystems. If we make Planet Earth uninhabitable ~ for Humans ~ there is nowhere else to go ! Thanks WILLY ~ Yes indeed there are millions who think like you ~ but to date no proof. I am a member of SETI (Search for extra-terrestrial intelligence) they have been looking for over 50 years and so far zilch ! People don't realise just how narrow the ecological conditions for "Life on Earth" are for life to exist. Also there is no evidence that Life Evolved on Earth from inanimate matter. If there was LIFE on another planet ~ it wouldn't be there through CHANCE EVOLUTION it would be there because GOD chose to CREATE it there ~ as He did on Planet Earth ~ OK Yours BRIAN
