Anniversary

kiersten

4/30/16

Today was our anniversary.

You bought me flowers and held my hand.

We went out and ventured the world.

My day was far from bland.

4/30/17

Today was our anniversary.

You proposed to me during the day.

You told me that you loved me

and that you would never stray.

4/30/18

Today was our anniversary.

You said hello and bought a card.

We’ve been fighting for months now,

and our love is something you disregard.

4/30/19

Today was our anniversary.

I spent it by the phone.

I’ve been waiting for your call.

You know I hate being alone.

4/30/20

Today was our anniversary.

You came to say your last goodbye.

You visited me in the hospital.

You couldn’t watch me die.

4/30/21

Today was my anniversary.

You live with the guilt of my suicide.

Maybe if you had cared for our love,

on this day I wouldn’t have died.
