A grackle is a player
With a smooth personality
And he will win you over
To participate in his schemes
He has a player’s eyes
Both steely and quite sharp
And they see the many ways
To play his counterpart
He loves to give his calls
From the tops of big pine trees
Where he recruits a lot
Of others to do his deeds
When the game is good
He profits very well
But when the jig is up
He lands himself in jail
He is then a bird
With no one naive to play
And says he will fly right
When he’s out again some day
