An Abstract View of Life

Campfire

At our first hello somewhere out in the world a fire was lit

At our first laugh together the twigs and leaves fell into it

At our first goodbye the small flame flickered

At our second hello the fire was burning steadily with the fuel around it

At our second night out you brought a log in the shape of your smile

At our first poems the logs grew larger

At our first kiss the flame erupted into tremendous flames ever so briefly

The flame reached the trees around it and lit them too

As the fire grew and spread, so did our time together

Burning hours away as the trees became ash

The flame grew so hot, it felt as if the air itself was burning

More and more time, more and more fuel

The larger the fire grew

The fire now stood a titan in strength

Only to collapse as the gust of winds blew

As I heard words similar to those I\'ve so many times in my past

The fire slowly waned becoming slightly weaker than before

.

As I type this out the fire still burns

The flames, still scorching hot

And giving up on you isn\'t even a thought

As I type this, I know I sound dramatic but I type with conviction

That what I feel for you will not be evicted

If waiting is the only thing I can do,

Then there\'s nothing more worth it

Than waiting for you
