Snapping Turtle
He has a great big head with little eyes
And a mouth with a worm inside
His shell is mossy and covered with weeds
And mud makes him difficult to see
He is a creature from the black lagoon
And with an alligator shares a room
He catches fish with his wiggling bait
On the bottom where he patiently waits
Sometimes he gets caught by a fisherman’s line
But breaks free every time
When held he hisses and snaps his jaws
Angrily at one and all
And then one day like a toad
He gets run over in the road
