Broken Sparrow
A broken sparrow lay on the snow
As many passed him by
His little body long been cold
Underneath snowy skies
His feathers were stiff as sleet rained
With the wind gusting a bit
His little body there remained
As other sparrows flit
The little marks on his chest
Could still be clearly seen
And in my mind was his call
As he perched for all to see
Never would he call again
With a greeting to his mate
And on Earth no future limb
To pass the time away
He lay there on a bed of snow
As another casualty
With his soul already arose
To a heavenly big oak tree
