To look back and reflect on the history of this nation is often like looking directly at a scorching-fire:
It was founded on stolen Native land, millions massacred and deceived.
And worked by the calloused hands of Black slaves
The Chinese who built the railroads.
It burns to look; you can feel the heat uncomfortably caress your face
But you cannot look away.
The truth and history needs to be examined.
It is necessary to look at
To understand why there are many living with burn wounds from the fire that founded this very country.
