On Flower Road
With the bluebonnets on the road
There too the paintbrush grows
With the scene from a car
Of red and blue near and far
The mowers mow many hours
Careful not to cut the flowers
And make the roadside pretty to see
For the likes of all traveling
Along the road there are deer
Beautiful with the flowers near
Doe in the morning and again at dusk
At the grass green and lush
Sometimes the flowers wilt in heat
To be revived each evening
And with the clover perk back up
There too with the buttercup
Some cars stop beside the road
To take pictures where the flowers grow
And there appreciate
All the flowers looking great
When the journey is very long
There are rest areas as they go along
And when stopped they walk a bit
Amongst the flowers for their trip
