A while before His departure
Jesus, He did assure
His disciples, His mission to
All His Father\'s will do
They could not with Him go just then
But remained among men
A time later they would Him see
Risen Lord He would be
A new commandment did He give
Showed them the way to live
\'Tis that we love one another
Whate\'er sister, brother
To love as Jesus has us loved
We among His beloved
So that we love each other here
As He has loved us dear
By this shall all people, they shall
Know, and proclaim and tell
That we are Jesus\' disciples
Love\'s hallmark each recalls
Thus people shall see believers
Givers and receivers
Speaking and living out Christ\'s love
Through His Spirit the dove
