River

I remember when you were my River

Meandering lost waters through my forest scene

Until that moment, raindrops had always been enough

To keep the leaves hanging quietly through my dream

It was as though my unfathomable forest

Was a destination never seen

I remember how you would enjoy the canvases

As each day your waters delivered warm floods

It felt as though those daydreams

We\'re no more for the graveyard of muds

Your waters were warm and inviting

The forest grew fast and vibrant and full

Oh I remember the days I bathed in your waters!

How you would enrich and nourish my soul

I truly believed in your presence

You would erase all the lost years gone before

I had never considered my forest could be home to a river!

So forgive me as I never let go

Now is not the time to remember right or wrong

Just grant me my soft lament of a river gone

I spread my forest across land and sea

Reaching for what you awoke in me

But in my land is only drought

Oh river come home! No more Cast me out!
