Maybe I\'m not quite what you want,
fallen short of the plans you have for me.
But I\'ll tell you now, and listen well,
for I never shall be what you want me to be.
I\'m happy enough as I am now,
with my own hands at life’s reigns.
And I don\'t need you perched upon my shoulder,
trying to direct all my things.
Maybe I didn\'t turn out the way you saw,
and ended up nothing like your dreams.
But I\'ll say it now, once again for the road,
you have no control over my means.
I love myself as I stand for now,
and the life I live so lovely.
And I don\'t care whatever it is you want,
for I\'m just going to be me
