There it was
Up for sale,
A chain of polished carbon
And the detritus from an oyster.
Not been seen for two hundred years.
It had hung around the neck,
The neck of Marie Antoinette.
The guillotine separated the head from the body,
The pendant was free,
Free to be sold
Two hundred years later,
For twenty-eight million pounds!
Who would pay that,
For some carbon,
And seawater garbage,
Well somebody did!
