Gopher Menace

Gopher Menace

From my kitchen window I saw

A mound that I did not recall

It appeared out of thin air

There amongst the others there

I stepped outside to better see

The latest one to aggravate me

And the mound was stories high

And seemed to reach into the sky

I hoped the dogs would prevail

And catch the menace that assailed

But found that the foe was mighty

And getting help from God almighty

I bought two traps and said a prayer

Hoping I would catch them there

But found there were tricky ones

With my traps each been sprung

And then there came the day

When a dog caught a little prey

And I caught in a trap

One of several when looking back
