Wrong by You

This apology is long overdue

I have done so wrong, so wrong by you

I apologize for every lie

I let you hear and believe

You are so much more than envious cries

Weaponized by insecure thieves

I apologize for the pain you took

I left you an open target

He fired hurt until you shook

And you apologized for starting it

I apologize for pushing away

All those who tried to help

The lifelong guides who fought to stay

You were forced to leave them on the shelf

I apologize for starving us

Of love, respect, and health

You only craved just enough

To live, think, and help

I apologize for giving up

On you and your miracle spirit

I let the chaos of simple luck

Make you hate life, even fear it

Most of all, I apologize

For the beatings that I, personally

Committed, in fear you’d rise

Too fast, too recklessly

I clipped your wings

And called you names

That burn and sting

And leave permanent stains

Beautiful self, Magical You,

This apology is long overdue

Lovely woman, let’s begin anew

I have done so wrong, so wrong by you
