The Old Piano

I’ll Play For You

Play For Me

I See The Piano

In That Dark, Dusty Room

I’ve Hoped, I’ve Waited

For You

I’ll Walk To It, and Start Playing

Hear The Pedal Lift

And Carry Me To Memories

Causing My Mood to Shift

You Moved My Hands

As I Plunked Those Wrong Notes

It Was A Song You Wrote For Me

My Old Fingers now Demotes

Softly, You Guided My Fingers

On These Same, Beautiful Keys

You Laughed When I Tried

Suddenly, A Breeze

Is It You? I’ve Waited

But, Doves Flew From The Seal

So, I Turned Back To Play

The Piano Whose Plaque Did Peal

As I Played, I Remembered You

Playing Your Harmonizing Cello

You Were Proud of Me, I Close My Eyes

Now These Keys are Yellow

My Hands Started To Shake

My Tears Hit The Keys

I Miss You So Much

I Miss Your Gentle Squeeze

My Emotions Ebb and Flow

I Now Feel Your Hands Covering Mine

I Open My Eyes

I Felt Your Familiar Shine

We Laughed, You Held My Wrinkled Hands

Moved Them ‘Cross These Cracked Keys

And, Like Those Times We First Met

Played Your Cello With Ease

I Started To Play Your Song

I Felt You Add Cello Hints

I Smiled, Played The Moist Keys

On My Old Fingerprint

He Pulled Me Into A Loving Embrace

“I’m Proud of You, Son

You’ve Never Lost Your Heart

Your Career Has Just Begun”

My Back Suddenly Cracked

I Painfully Grasped My Spine

I Started To Play Your Song Again

But Your Hands Didn’t Cover Mine

I Woke Up On The Bench

And Closed The Piano Shade

And Walked From Your Piano, Dad

Cried As The Sounds Slowly Decayed
