For The Homeless
I’ve never been a rich man
Financially in my life
But I help the homeless when I can
And I am blessed I find
And when I give of myself
The poor sometimes smile
And never better have I felt
Than when they stay awhile
Many souls I have fed
At the shelter many days
And I’ve given beds to weary heads
Off the streets and safe
A better man I became
When I served the poor
And I knew many by first name
As they entered through our door
And when I volunteered
I made many friends
And God was always somewhere near
To help me welcome them
