I wait for the visitor to arrive,
one known to me only by
reputation. New to my acquaintance.
My house is clean, at least as clean
as I can make it. I\'ve taken out the
trash, swept the dusty corners, even
shined the brass candle sticks.
Everything is in order.
I debated about making a meal we
might enjoy together. But I suspect
there will not be time. People who
know him say he doesn\'t stay long.
I will wait as patiently as I can, but
I am nervous. I want to make a
good impression. But then I guess
everybody does. I will shake his
hand and ask him to sit for a
little while.
I am ready for his black sedan to arrive.
