I first saw you in Summer
When I thought life was better.
I didn\'t have it made
But at least things were stable.
Your petals were golden,
Face turned to the sun,
Soaking up the rays
And I smiled to see your face.
The time goes on,
The bus trundles by,
Engine groaning and whirring
And I notice you\'re still there...
Leaves are now falling,
Your seeds are black and ripe
Petals withered in the cooling wind.
It\'s time I was leaving,
But you\'re still standing there
Alone and blackened,
Shriveled on your stalk
Like a dead man still propped upright.
I\'ve seen you through the seasons,
Through the time when I was cared for,
To the time when I am not.
I hope you grow back in the Summer
And I hope I do too.
