The West

I know you\'re out there,

As I gaze from my window...

The muzzy pane

Seemingly the only object

To inhibit

My falling into your open arms.

But reality bites

With wicked teeth,

And hisses in my ear -

Reminding me

That there\'s an ocean between us.

All the same,

The hazy horizon beckons,

And I know you\'re there

Dear darling,

Beyond the calls of

The wheeling seabirds

And tall ships

Sailing on the squalls.

Comfort yourself

That we reside

Under the same sky,

Dare to touch

The same lofty constellations,

Gaze at galaxies

Shrouded in gloom,

And bite the silence,

To howl at the same moon.
