dusk arising

Joey played the saxophone

joey played the saxophone
raucus loud and strong
raunchy reedwork reaching ravers
trippling off his tongue

zoe sang it like a bird
long limbed luscious lithe
moves to keep eyeballs popping
while libidos writhe

\"hello joey, how are you tonite?\" a soft voice asked
such familiarity in the eyes  \"yes i\'m good thank you\"
yes too much famiarity in those eyes \"do I know you?\"
\"ha ha ha i\'m Chelista you should!\" widest smiling eyes

Thirty years drifted past since joe lived in those eyes
Chel was the one that got away and he knew it
joey was the love of her life and together they blew it
sitting close recounting days and joys holding hands again

Joey played the saxophone
mellow breathy blue
re-living reverie regretting
love he once knew

Zoe sang a moon dance
made poor joey flutter
he\'d danced beneath that moon before
loving zoe\'s mother
