Your Face

When your eyes twinkle
In the pure light of day
And your cheek dimples
Free from affray
My brow will unwrinkle
In spite of my grey

Soul long lost. Forgot
So far from where you’re not
I reach out to thee with poetry
The most real and honest part of me

I paint with words and wait
Until your shoulders soften
And your iris illuminates
Where ashes fly unforgotten
Into the moonlit fate
Of a window’s endless knocking

Your face. Unreplaced
Etched as I trace
These words on my page
Brightens dark days

When your eyes twinkle
In the pure light of day
You radiate and sprinkle
A longing to stay
I pour words like a dream
Will you please make my day?
