THE OLD RUGGED CROSS ~ MOST LOVED HYMN OF SENIORS !
ON A HILL FAR AWAY ~ Stood an Old Rugged Cross
The emblem of suffering & shame
And I love the Old Cross ~ where the Dearest & Best
For a World of lost Sinners was slain !
Oh The Old Rugged Cross ~ so despised by the World
Has a wondrous attraction for me
For twas on that Old Cross ~ JESUS suffered & died
To pardon & sanctify ME !
To that Old Rugged Cross ~ I will ever be true
Its shame & reproach gladly bear
Then He\'ll call me some day ~ to my home far away
Where His Glory forever I\'ll share !
So I\'ll cherish the Old Rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross
And exchange it one day for a CROWN ~ AMEN
Thanks for sharing ~ comments welcome ~ Love A & B 🧡🧡🧡
This beautiful Easter Hymn ~ about the CROSS ~ the symbol
of CHRISTIANITY was written by GEORGE BERNARD (USA)
in 1913 and has been very popular ever since. In Funerals
in the Southern States the JAZZ BAND walks in front and
plays this tune and Just a Closer Walk with Thee ~ AMEN.
When Angela & I sing in Homes for Seniors in the UK ~
this is one of the most requested HYMNS ! A & B 🧡🧡🧡
