She’s a frank ship, all barque,

but no bight

no matter how tight

can hold her at bay.

She puts sheets to storms while

lesser craft belay.

She’s a basking word-shark,

a great wight,

whose deep tell-tale bite

chews into her prey.

She stirs blood in waters

shining flukes evade.

She’s a songbird on wing:

Passerine that flies

across Sistine skies

to bring songs that reach

from thrush to brush and paint

with the gift of speech.

She’s a sharp saber-tooth

of the ancient past;

time-warped-goddess Bast.

Blessed with tigress core

and voice of The Lion.

Listen to her roar!
