Dreaming

They ask about my dreams

And I tell tall tales

About conquering the world

And rescuing the burned

And painting a new day

For the ones found astray

But it\'s all a big lie

A facade to mask the truth

The real dream for me

Is getting over you

When I close my eyes, here\'s what I see

I imagine a spring dawn draped in dew

My bed is warm and my eyes flutter open

The hole in my chest is just a faded scar

And my once aching soul is light and floating

And my mind searches for you but you\'re so, so far

And I smile, with light gracing my eyes

And tears don\'t flow, they don\'t even start

My fingertips have nothing to dry

And when I look in the mirror, I see a work of art

And when I sit down to write

Stories course my veins

New tales flood my sight

And they don\'t spell your name

These are my dreams

No fortune or fame

Just well stitched seams

That keep me here, and keep me safe

I dream of waking up, and feeling brand new

I dream of waking up, and getting over you
