Children of the Sun

I spend the longest day alone,

Sitting in the sinking sun,

Collecting freckles on my nose,

Pages quiver beneath my fingers -

Prickling grass between my toes.

I turn the sacred music loud,

Watching the sun-disc sinking down,

With the supple sweet of apricot flesh

Between my fingers, on my tongue,

Making these feelings dance afresh.

The daylight is fading

And the tide is running strong,

But the shortest night has just begun,

I\'ll taste you on the ether, dear -

As you listen to me come undone.

The new dawn is breaking,

Slowly singing, this is how we start;

There\'s no game, but we\'ve already won,

And laughing with the fullest heart,

We are the children of the sun.
