REAL LIFE is not like that : only ONE JOB
ONE PROMOTION & ONE FIRST DISCOVERER !
BRIAN & I have both come SECOND in ........
An interview for ONE JOB : we wanted : and
Was given to an Internal Candidate !
Its the same with LOVE ! before BRIAN & I
Met each other : so often a Potential ........
Partner would be snatched away ! C*est la Vie !

When I discussed this poem with BRIAN he asked me to add
an incident which disproves the premise in Stanza 2. Eight
candidates but only ONE JOB. BRIAN was Chair of Governors
at a School interviewing for ONE SCIENCE POST ! The Panel
had narrowed it down to TWO. ANNE who was offering BIOLOGY
& CHEMISTRY and JAMES who was offering PHYSICS & MATHS !
Either would have augmented the Department. BRIAN was the
LINK GOVERNOR in SCIENCE. He knew they were using a STAFF
equivalent of Part-time Staff so He asked the HEADMISTRESS
\"Why cant we employ them BOTH ?\" Surprisingly the HEAD &
The County Adviser agreed. They were both Probationary Teachers.
BRIAN was relieved because they were potentially excellent Teachers.
The *Icing on the Cake* was that three years later BRIAN was a
Chief Guest at their Wedding and was able to recount the Story of
*TWO for the Price of ONE* at the Wedding Breakfast - AMEN !
